This is another one of my favorite stories of a photo shoot.
This was at the Renaissance fair in Las Vegas. I really love how people put so much effort into their personas and outfits. It really is on another level.
Clan Wylde paints themselves in black and white paint and it was important for me to be there very first thing in the morning to shoot them because once they get out onto the fairgrounds they get smudged up fairly quickly.
So this story really starts the night before in the morning shoot.
At the Vegas Renaissance fair they have what are called guilds which are built-in actors for the fair. And they get to camp overnight. So the real party starts after the gates close.
So somehow I wound up in Battle Wolf’s campsite which is a Guild for pirates. And we had a great time sitting around the campfire singing or more like howling at the moon til nearly sunrise.
No I’m not much of a rum drinker but you really don’t say no to pirates. And one of them had a whole chest full of rum concoctions. He kept telling me here try this, try this, try this, this one’s my favorite one it’s watermelon in rum.
So needless to say I was three sheets to the wind by early morning.
I managed to make it to clean wild’s camp at 7:30 in the morning to be ready to shoot them at 8:00.
I was hating myself, I was hating life and I was especially hating pirates. It’s impossible to count how many times I said out loud I freakin hate pirates. I freakin hate pirates. I freakin hate pirates. And believe me l was not using the word freakin.
